Pantheia 1st Year Anniversary Giveaway

It's been a little while since I've blogged on here -- yes, I'm guilty. But with the holiday season so near, I wanted to let you all in on a little secret.

If you read my post last year on Pantheia you'll know how in love I am with their jewelry and other accessories! I even travelled through Europe this summer with the Bamboo Bolero, 4 Seasons Earrings, and the Lunar Pendant in brass. And from those of you who have travelled Europe, you'll know that it's usually crucial that you only take the necessities along. So that really says a lot!

So here's the secret... It's Pantheia's 1st Year Anniversary! (Well I guess that's not a huge secret)
But the real secret is that until December 11th you can enter for a chance to win a gorgeous pair of Pantheia Earrings! Did I mention it's actually made in Bali? Cool, I know.

So if I was you, there's no way I'd pass this up!

Halloweenie in London Town

A couple weeks back, my friend had her birthday party with a London and pumpkin carving theme!

I posted some quintessential London looks, as I was debating what my London style would be for the event.

It turns out.. most of us went for the royal look. A few of us rocked some fascinators, and cute little hats. And for the girls who didn't really dress up to the theme, they played it off by saying, "Kate Middleton dresses like this when she's not going out for tea with The Queen".

Halloween is probably my most favourite holiday, but I have to admit that it has been years since I have actually carved a pumpkin. While I stuck to carving out a little mini pumpkin, Cassandra and Nicole dug into a big one.

We even decorated our London themed jello shots with the Union Jack, to play up the London concept.

In Winnipeg, sangria seems to be a pretty common drink, especially in the summertime sitting on a patio somewhere down Corydon. In London, this very popular cocktail -- that I spent my summer with in London -- is Pimm's. We made a batch, and the people who had never tried it before were blown away.

And this is how you do it:

Jax had went to an event that was London themed a week before her party, so she used some of those decorations to fancy up the pumpkins.

I loved these hats. They were so adorable, and the periwinkle hat just happens to be vintage.

And this here is the birthday girl. With her lovely red fascinator, and those crafty blue lashes, she has the party theme and British swag written all over her.

London Calling

A great friend of mine is celebrating her birthday tomorrow -- London style! The plan is to carve pumpkins, drink Pimms out of tea cups, and have a jolly old time.

You'd think after living in London this summer, that I'd already know the style of the London type of gal I am... But I often find myself mixing up my styles, and I would describe my style somewhat schizophrenic.

Shall I go Amy Winehouse, Camden punk rock style?

Or dress like the royals?

Maybe some retro Twiggy mod style?

Or glam like the diva herself, Kate Moss?

We will have to wait and see!

T-Toques

I feel like this is an appropriate post for today, since it's the first snow/rain fall of the winter, and it's getting pretty cold... My gal pal Kim Slezak -- design extraordinaire -- started a new toque line, T-Toques.

They're made out of recycled T-shirts, so you can still wear your favourite vintage love -- even if it doesn't fit any more -- but on your head.

Bring in your own shirt, and theses babies are only $20 a pop. Or you can pick an already made, one-of-a-kind T-Toque for $30!

Why not keep your noggin warm in style?

Check the new T-Toques website, even sharks are wearing them ;)

Montgomery Wards Catalogue from 1934

I loved this Catalogue from 1934 that my grandma sent me. It's so interesting to see the vintage clippings, and how some of the fashions are coming back.

Fashion Week - SS13

Oh yes, it's that time of year again. Fashion Week has begun!

New York Fashion Week is in full swing, and although I am here in Winnipeg, I have enjoyed some of the shows from the other side of my computer screen..

Orla Kiely, Organic by John Patrick, Raleigh, Tim Coppens, and Erin Fetherston, showcased their new SS13 collections this past Wednesday,a day before FNO.

Thursday Sept. 6, were showings from Nicholas K, BCBG Max Azria (one of my favourites), Richard Chai Love, Creatures of the Wind, Duckie Brown, Joseph Abboud, Tadashi Shoji, Costello Tagliapietra, Shades of Grey, and Honor.

I always look forward to the BCBG show, as it has been one of my favourite brands since I discovered it... And the fact that it's closer to my price range than Chanel (who I of course LOVe), makes it all the better.

Today models strutted in Parke & Ronen, Peter Som, Tess Giberson, Nonoo, Behnaz Sarafpour, Jason Wu, Nautica, Yigal Azrouel, Cushnie Et Ochs, Rebecca Minkoff (amazingggg prints), General Idea, Gregory Parkinson, Jen Kao, Tocca, Rag & Bone, Tommy Hilfiger Men, N.Hoolywood, Nicole Miller, Billy Reid, Charlotte Ronson, Helmut Lang, Todd Snyder, Suno, and Billy Reid Mens.

Some of the upcoming shows that I will def. not miss are....
Prabal Gurung, Alexander Wang, Tibi, Lela Rose, Diane von Frustenberg, Zac Posen, Pierre Balmain, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Alice + Olivia, Betsey Johnson (nothing beats her cartwheels down the runway), Marc Jacobs, Rodarte, Rachel Roy, Oscar de la Renta, Jeremy Scott, and Calvin Klein.

After working in London this summer I have become more aware of UK designers. London Fashion Week starts on Friday, September 14, and I cannot wait to see the new SS13 collections from Sass & Bide, Jasper Conran, Rag & Bone, House of Holland, Matthew Williamson, Vivienne Westwood Red Label, Acne, Burberry Prorsum, Temperley London, and Mulberrry.

Milan Fashion Week begins on Wednesday, September 19th, through to Monday, September 24th, and Paris Fashion Week begins on Tuesday, September 25th, through to Wednesday, October 3rd.

Stratamode

So here I am again.. I took time to focus on and launch my new blog Stratamode, but with the new school year just beginning there will be many posts on their way from here!

I spent the last three months traveling through Europe; Sweden, Latvia, Turkey, Holland, France, Italy, Spain, and a two month internship in London.

I met some amazing people, had the time of my life, and learnt a lot about the world, as well as myself.

If you haven't checked out my blog Stratamode yet, you definitely should. It has evolved into a collection of street fashion, style, art, photography, music, videos, and stories from all of the places that I have visited.

Spring Fashion Market - Winnipeg Fashion Incubator

Before coming to Sweden, I attended the Spring Fashion Market put on by the Winnipeg Fashion Incubator at Red River College. It was nice to meet some new peeps, see some awesome designs, and catch up with friends before I left for my summer adventures.

This was the second market event put on by Winnipeg Fashion Incubator to help promote, support, and provide an environment for local designers. And to cap it all off, it ended with a fashion show -- my favourite way to end the day.

Also check out my first post on my new blog Stratamode!! Find out the festival styles of Dans Dakar in Stockholm, Sweden. & stay tuned for some videos and pics of the amazing Euro Electro DJ's!!!
